Jagan Reddy’s party leader dupes family of Rs 65,000 for VIP darshan at Tirupati

The Andhra Pradesh Police has filed a case against YSR Congress Party MLC Mayana Zakia Khanam and two others for allegedly duping a family by promising them special treatment (VIP darshan) at the Tirumala Temple in Tirupati district of the state.
According to a complaint filed by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Khanam, her public relations officer Krishna Teja, and another individual, P Chandrasekhar, allegedly defrauded a man of Rs 65,000 by promising VIP darshan and Veda Ashirvachanam, a ritual, at the Tirumala Temple.
The incident occurred on Saturday, October 19, when N Sai Kumar handed the money to the accused near the Srivari Temple, under the pretext of providing VIP darshan and Veda Ashirvachanam tickets at Tirumala Temple, according to the complaint by the TTD’s vigilance officer.
Upon receiving the complaint, an FIR was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation was launched.
Earlier, in a similar case, a 41-year-old businessman was defrauded of Rs 64,000 by cybercriminals posing as facilitators of VIP darshan at Tirumala Temple.
According to the police, the man had received a WhatsApp message offering VIP darshan at Tirupati Temple. The sender introduced himself as an employee of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. The businessman, Rakesh Anand Lalwani, responded to the message, and the accused persuaded him to pay the booking amount.
Initially, Lalwani transferred Rs 30,000, and he was later asked to pay Rs 29,000, citing technical issues. He also paid an additional Rs 5,000.
A case was filed in connection with the incident following Lalwani’s complaint.
